Tajikistan is developing its own neural network called SomoniGPT.The deputy head of the information and press department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic, Zarina Ismailzade, spoke about this.It is noted that such a statement was made within the framework of the session “Artificial Intelligence: Enemy or Friend of the Journalist” within the framework of the II CIS Media Forum.Thus, recently one of the digital operators in Tajikistan announced the start of development of the first national neural network SomoniGPT as part of the implementation of the approved Strategy for the development of artificial intelligence until 2040.
“SomoniGPT is the world’s first Tajik innovation model, which already has a wide range of capabilities: data analysis, predictive modeling and text generation. It accepts more than 20 languages, but generates all answers in the Tajik language, which contributes to its popularization,” she clarified.
And although today there are few users of neural networks in Tajikistan, the authorities do not rule out that their number will gradually increase in the coming years.At the same time, AI must take into account the cultural and linguistic characteristics of the country, Ismailzadeh believes.

“At the moment, AI technologies are developed in English, which can create problems when using them in Tajik journalism. For the successful use of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence technologies in the republic, it is necessary to develop them and adapt them to the Tajik language,” she said.The Foreign Ministry representative did not rule out that in the future the development of artificial intelligence could lead to the modernization of the very essence of journalism.
